Carolina Rocha was born in Rosario, Argentina. She completed her BA in History at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina. She has a Master and PhD. from the University of Texas in Austin. Her dissertation explored the social construction of memory after the trauma of state-inflicted violence during the most recent militray dictatorship. Her articles about this topic have appeared in Hispanic Culture Review, Hispanic Journal and CLCWeb: Comparative Literature and Culture.
Rocha's research interests also include film studies and contemporary Southern Cone popular culture. Her articles have been published in Revista de Estudios Hispánicos, Nuestra América, Studies in Latin American Popular Culture and Ciberletras.
In 2007, she coedited with Professor Hugo Hortiguera Argentinean Cultural Production during the Neoliberal Years. In the summer of 2007 Rocha received two National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowships. She took part of a summer seminar, "Jewish Buenos Aires." Her interest in Jewish-Argentine culture has led to publications in Letras Hispanas and the Delaware Review of Latin American Studies.
