Please, follow these steps to

  • Create your Youtube account, if you do not have one
  • Invite your instructors
  • Upload your video as Private

1. Create your account

Go to YOUTUBE.com and Sign Up for an account
. You will receive an email to confirm your account. Confirm it.

2. Invite your Instructors

Go to My Account >> Contacts & Subscribers >> My Contacts


Click on Invite your friends to join YouTube! and inside the box enter the email addresses of 1. Your Span232 Instructor (xxxxx@uiuc.edu), and 2. The coordinator Ann Abbott (arabbott1@gmail.com). Then, click on "Send Invite"

Your instructor will receive a notification and (s)he will accept your invitation. Once both Ann and your instructor appear under your Contacts, you still need to Assign them a group, in order to be able to send them your video. We are going to insert both contacts under the group "My friends." Select both contacts, and next to "Copy Contacts to:" select "Friends."

NOTE: The new YouTube settings don't have COPY CONTACTS To, it has a LABEL assignment. Select both contacts and click on LABEL >> NEW LABEL (make up one, like Span 232 Instructors). The image reflects the old settings.



Now both contacts appear under Friends. We are ready for the next step: Uploading your Diario Digital

3. Upload your video as PRIVATE

Click on the yellow tab, and complete the information for the video you are about to upload.
IMPORTANT: On the BROADCAST OPTIONS select PRIVATE and click on the emails of YOUR INSTRUCTOR and Ann Abbott. This way the video remains private and no one else can watch it. (If your instructor and Ann Abbott do not appear in the list, make sure your followed the steps above to INVITE and ASSIGN LABEL TO CONTACTS).



4. Upload your video

Once you have finished completing the information, click on "Upload a video", and on the next screen click on "browse for your video" and click on "Upload Video."

Your video will start uploading. This process can take from several minutes to up to one hour, depending on your internet's speed and your computer.
